January 2025, it marks one year since the devastating earthquake that struck Noto and the Hokuriku region of Japan. The memories of that day remain vivid, and while much progress has been made in the recovery efforts, it is important not to overlook the challenges many residents still face. Homes were lost, businesses were disrupted, and lives were forever changed. For some, the road to normalcy remains an uphill climb.

The Noto region and the greater Hokuriku area are celebrated for their remarkable traditional crafts—an enduring legacy of Japanese culture. From intricate lacquerware to delicate Kutani porcelain, these crafts represent not only artistic mastery but also centuries of history and community pride. Unfortunately, many artisans and their workshops sustained severe damage during the earthquake, jeopardizing this invaluable heritage.
We, JAPAN IMPORTS NOW has had the privilege of bringing these exquisite traditional crafts to the United States, sharing their beauty and significance with a global audience. In the wake of the disaster, we felt a deep responsibility to contribute to the recovery of this cherished region. As part of our efforts, a portion of our sales was donated to aid relief initiatives, and we were honored to sponsor a charity soccer event held in Noto, which brought the community together in support of those affected.
